I am going to a local hunter trials next Sunday.

I used to be terrified of jumping, until about 4 years ago but I have really got my confidence now, although this has mainly been achieved in an arena!

I have a new pony who is very experienced and is teaching me tons and could go round a course with his eyes closed!

I have done cross country at two pony club rallies, jumping to approximately 3ft but I am pretty inexperienced with drops and water jumps.

I need to decide whether I would like to do the 2ft 3 class or the 2ft 9 class. Does this drastically affect the height of the drops? Mum thinks I should do the 2ft 3 but is leaving it up to me and I half think that it might be better to just get on with the bigger class?

Any advice welcome!
Many Thanks!

I'd say if its your first HT, stick to the 2'3 class. Doing a rally is different from an actual comp where you are going round alone. You can always move up to the bigger one next time.

Go for the 2'3'', wizz round and have a great time. Although the 2'9'' may not bother you height wise it's bound to be more technical, have bigger drops etc which you may want more experience before you tackle at a comp. Have fun!
