hi all,
been lurking for a while, finally joined.
and so far found everyone welcoming.
anyway just hoping for some ideas/causes or if your horse is currently the same. the last few days or so things seem to be coming up on their own seems normal but im wondering if linked???, at first i thought it would settle or reasonable excuss i.e. grooming with horse next door etc..
lately he has started to get rather loose stools (cow comes to mind) almost puddles 1cm thick though not liquid and nothing down legs etc.. and not losing condition. just a blooming pain to muck out the field.
mane loss (falling out in chunks) and now dandruff in the coat though thick bit on shoulder/wither area and mane none in tail, he seems itchy, but guessed he was moulting checked for lice/mites nothing, he has feather and they look perfectly healthy and full.
he has just finished his min lick, so shouldn't be lacking in anything. i only give a quick brush with a dandy or plactic curry comb, (none of these is used on mane, i use fingers and plenty of spay and was very long) as didnt want to brush out oils as living out.
i started to feed a few weeks ago alfafa a and bailey no 4 to try and keep some weight on/maintain over winter, which i will stop as from today but was introduced slowly not a huge bowl thrown at him..
there is lots of of game birds as the yard im on breed and raise them but dont know if this is useful or not. he also had slight worm damage when i first got him but vet said is will heal (and very likely healed by now).. he is fully up to date on everything wormer/jabs etc.. he does have acces to trees/hedgerow. he seem happy in him self and will happily have a funny 5 running around and kicking his heals up.
do you think he has been eating something that aint to great for him?, lacking in something? or prehaps a form of allergy to something or the feed just isn't agreeing with him.
im quite confused???
