Ok so it's only day 3 after my op and I have a tummy full of stitches but this sunshine is tormenting me! Haven't been able to ride for the last fortnight and I'd just got the new fatty fit at last. Looking at the fab action shots thread is part wonderful and part torture. Would love to go for a ride, I guess it might be a few weeks yet. Oh well, just had to get that off my chest. You don't realise how important a part of your life it is until you can't do it!

Me too, I've endured almost 9 months cooking this baby with no riding, I'll probably have to re break my veteran mare - she'll have forgotten how to carry a rider! Not long to go now though, only 5 weeks max!

Same here no riding since September. Baby due next week and getting back on board to begin a fittenning programme with my veteran is something that I am getting excited about! Already booked saddle fitter and back lady for after the birth!

Your not alone! Im 4wks post knee op, and I cant see myself getting back on till july as still not fully weight bearing :( so will be second yr in a row missing out showing my boy. But will make up for it when im back on board!

Just hang on in there and dont rush it to soon.

Oh me too! 6 weeks and counting until I give birth and can get back on!
A lovely girl at my yard has been riding him for me but now has a six days a week job and her own to ride so can't ride mine anymore sadly - well, sure he won't mind having a six week holiday!

A word of advice - when you do decide/are told it's OK to get back on, work out if you are strong enough to dismount before you do. I got back on a 17.3hh three weeks after a fall that badly damaged both legs, had a lovely gentle bimble and then sat in the yard for half an hour trying to work out how to get off and back onto my crutches. It was a three woman and large mounting block job in the end.

That's a very good point! Can't see a classic dismount doing the stomach any good, perhaps cowboy style might be better :-) Least the one in work at the moment is only 16.1 so not that far to drop.

Oh me too. Got PG aged 'well into my 40's' then found out it was twins and in the meantime had lost my trusted horse in a storm and brought a 17 hands sharpish TB :eek::eek:

So I haven't ridden since November and as my twins are lying really badly will need a section so wont be able to ride the newbie till around October.

Bummer bummer bummer

Loads of sympathies to all you peeps who are currently unable to ride.
But loads of congratulations to all those about to pop!
I had forced time off riding after ******ing a cruciate ligament. I was fine getting on and riding, but the getting off was tricky. Was very tempted to put an old mattress on the ground, get horse to stand beside it, and then just sort of fall off onto mattress, to avoid putting any weight on my knee!
Have also ridden (just at a bimble) with one arm in a plaster cast, but it's handy to teach your horse to neck rein for that one.

I stopped riding when I found out I was pregnant, under midwife instructions. Was told I could start up again at 12 weeks when risk of miscarriage drops dramatically, due to circumstances and him going back to my old college I didn't get to ride him until I was 20 weeks. We did an intro dressage test when I was 21+5 and came 2nd :) I've pootled around on him a few times since, last time being when I was 30 weeks and now I'm desperate for baby to come so I can get back on board! Getting major withdrawal symptoms :(

I'm 10 days post op and sooooooo bored as I feel fantastic! only another 4.5 weeks to go until I can go for a tootle!

Congrats all you preggars people and to those post ops, get well soon :)

What a timely post! I am 25days PO and trying to reason with myself that the time will soon pass. I was so excited that the physio said as I had had keyhole I could ride after 3 weeks if I had a quiet horse, well here I am fast approaching 4 weeks with my BP all over the show and absolutely not fit to ride :(
3 days left until I am legal to drive again so I am hanging onto that thought!

So many peeps off games. If with you, 4.5wks post breaking my arm, hoping plaster off next Friday and an OK to start riding - carefully of course! Luckily my instructor has been working my boy so no concerns on that front. Can't wait to get back in the saddle.

3.5 weeks since I broke my collar bone. Was hoping to ride this week but my horse is now off games too :(. Probably for the best, since my shoulder is hurting again for some reason.

4 week post op on hip and desperate to get back in the saddle I got told by my consultant no horseying for 4 weeks looking forward to a gentle stroll next week hope she's well behaved ;-)

For those who mentioned about getting off I tried working that out before I had op as right hip so started mounting from right so I swing left leg over less stress on right hip joint although looks far from glamourous!!

I'm 8 weeks post op after cruciate ligament reconstruction so half way through the 16 weeks away from horses I promised the surgeon. Feel like the end is in sight at last as my knee is getting stronger and less painful every day now. Miss my girl and my horsey friends very much. Think my OH will be pleased to get me out of the house as I may have been a bit grumpy!!!!!..... Good luck to everyone who is recovering. :)
