I can see these things happening: 1) he poos in it. Regularly. 2) he smashes the glass and cuts the hell out of his legs. 3) he gets somehow stuck in it and hurts himself.

My mini had the same problem. We solved it by cutting a 'V' into his, already lowered, door. Bit like an anti-weaving grille (cos he climbed over when we left it straight - the little monkey!!!!!)

We just put a chain across our ponies door way and never close the door

My mini has a top door from the other side of the yard, re-hung & for her 33" she is safe but can see over

Our minis are in a foaling box split into 2 internal stables both with low doors.. The outside door only gets shut if it's excessively windy

So now he can see them through a mirror but they can't reach in to give him a nice scratch or pat. Even if they can't lower the door for whatever reason, couldn't they just make him a litle ramp, much cheaper and nicer for him.

Let's face it - smart it might look and it's getting publicity for all parties - but is it a real solution? Probably not. Be far better to have hired a local handyman for a couple of hours to lower the door. The pony would be able to see out and communicate rather than being hidden behind a green, most likely, unsafe box protruding into his space. They could still have gained publicity from it.

Having read quite a few articles about this, I think it was just a bit of fun for kids over half term and not a serious solution. It's only made of cardboard. Also once they convert the stable for a Shetland, it can't be used for other horses. They probably just need a new stable anyway.

lol! Our Shetland has a smaller door... All our doors are matched to the height of pony actually, and my sisters section A on a livery yard has a step to see out

I worked at a riding school once where one of the ponies used to stand on the wooden frame of the door if he wanted to see over!
