Ever wonder why we have them?? I've been awake since 3am, with too much running thru my head :( so can't sleep

Everyone tells me to send my loan boy home, but such a big decision and heartache to do :(

That his bad points out weigh his good! He's big bolshy and uses it against you, that he has major seperation anxiety- even with horses in next field. That he will only stay stabled for so long before threatening to jump out- we have to bring others in to stable him for length of time. That I have to fit my routine and that of my daughters pony round him.

Somehow in black and white it sounds even worse!

Problem is I've got attached to him- even tho at times he scares me! :(

How long have you had Little Treasure, and what would he be going back to? There are enough lovely non scary horses out there looking for a caring home, and they all cost round about the same to keep!

Had him since August, he'd be going back to his owner who has owned him 18yrs. Tho it transpires in that time he's been out on loan 5/6 times and been returned for bad behaviour :( not mentioned by owner- just when talking in local feed merchants turns out horse is known!

That's what everyone tells me- he's an expensive horse to keep as needs tlc , only ridden 2/3 times a week as is older, so most of my time I spent with him on the ground and this is where he seriously lacks manners/ has issues.

My instructor says send him back, my very experienced trusted horsey friends say send him back- so many others out there.

He was set to be gifted to me at yr end :(

So many things have been altered to fit round him, routines - he has to be first in and first out, I have to be first on yard when he's stabled cause he goes mad if others fed or turned out before him. I can't take my daughter out on her pony and leave him in field - even with horses in next paddock.

Really taking shine off horse ownership :(

Bless you....seems a real worry to you. Hope you've gone back to sleep now. You cld try the classic method of writing a list of reasons for & against sending him back. Just the process of writing it can help focus the mind.

For heaven's sake, send back now! Sounds both dire and dangerous for you and how will you n daughter n her pony cope if you get squashed by the thuggy horse? No wonder the owner was planning to gift him to you at the end of the year! Very wrong of owner not to tell you his history, imo. Your instructor, your friends and your sensible head are telling you to send him back. Do it now, before you are wholly responsible for this large, expensive, bargy rude horse, who will only get to be more of these as he gets older! Pick up that phone today, get owner to remove asap, if she demurs say that he is too dangerous to keep, especially with your responsibilities for daughter n her pony, and enjoy the extra tuime and money! Something will come along - they always do. Contact Blue Cross, WHW, RSPCA for loan horse, they have lovely ones and you will get a fully assessed horse and lots of support and back up. Good luck with owner who will probably give you lots of reasons why she cant have him back "just yet". No. Contract null and void because she didn't tell you the full story. Wld you have had him if she had?

Thanks for the replies in what felt like the longest night! In answer to your question- would I of had him if I had known how bad he is- no I wouldn't :(

If that is how you really feel then send him back while you still can, once he is gifted to you there will be no going back. It may sound harsh but the horse is causing you too much stress, you are getting no fun and while he may get better over time equally he may not.
Send him back and look elsewhere, there are plenty of lovely horses needing homes that have less issues.
