my mare is 6 yrs old and getting quite strong i ride her in a kk snaffle for schooling and moves lovely, and a happy mouth stright bar hanging cheek snaffle when hacking out and jumping, but she is really pulling on the bit, when it comes to jumping and finding it hard to stop her at times (but i do manage), Any help welcome...

my horse is a bu**er to stop, very strong! i havent yet found a bit that stops him but i do find he is better with different bits, I am up to gags and pelhams now. i find that alternating them also helps as he is very good at avoiding bits so that keeps him on his toes a bit!

Hopefully you will be able to do something before it gets to that, i found a mexican grackle helped alot. just lifted him up a bit at the front. may be worth a try?!

there ars som many bits now adays its hard to know what to suggest. i have my stallion in a hackamore as i find getting the bit out of his mouth eleminates the problem al together (took me a while to adjust to it though)

Keep us posted!

You could try her in a hanging cheek snaffle as this is a bit stronger than a standard snaffle without being severe. Also prehaps try a jointed bit for jumping as it will give her less to fight against.

We school our lad in a NS French Link Snaffle but for show jumping he is a little more excited so we change to a Waterford. This gives more control & he comes back nicely....it may be worth trying?

Trial and error. When I got my mare she was in a waterfood gag for everything and I changed her to a loose ring french link and eventually a french link pelham for jumping, but it took a testing along the way. I would try a metal bit and possibly double jointed it she takes hold. Good luck I'm sure you'll find the perfect fit!

I find a good combination bit works for strong horses !!!

with yours i would do lots of pole and grid work to stop her rushing and getting strong in front of fences !!
