Friend was riding her horse the other day and said he wasnt tracking up! Is the canter meant to track up? I watched my sister ride ours and he over tracks in canter, he would have a more collected rounded canter than my friends horse so does it just depend on how the horse moves in general or is he not stepping under with his hinds enough?

Cannot say I have ever worried about canter tracking up - so long as there is an active, stepping under hind leg, and the canter is *up* that is good enough for me!

There really isn't such a thing as tracking up in canter....

You should be looking for a 3 time rhythm with a good step through with an inside hind leg, straightness etc for "quality" in canter.

Ditto everything Weezy said!
I would concentrate more on the 'way of going' in the canter and making sure it is active and engaged.
