Those are the kind of entitled people who give the rest of us a bad name and get us banned from permissive tracks.
Hang on, two members of the public with dogs on leads, legitimately in a public space - who are verbally abused, physically threatened and intimidated by oiks on horseback who want the place to themselves? That's just rude. I do think there are times where you have to cope with horses going past you faster, like sponsored rides, but if anything I think they should have taught the paying customers you slow down if there is danger or obstacles.
Re the beach incident and the dog walkers. Maybe they had just had enough of dogs on a beach as here the biggest issue on the beach rides are dogs without recall, hanging off tails of horses, or just chasing them thinking nothing is wrong. It becomes very difficult to keep clients safe with the public
I didn't see the beach encounter poster saying anything about being physically threatened or it being a commercial enterprise in that post so you clearly know more than meHang on, two members of the public with dogs on leads, legitimately in a public space - who are verbally abused, physically threatened and intimidated by oiks on horseback who want the place to themselves?
That is outrageous behaviour, irrespective of whatever previous experiences may have been, and entirely unacceptable.
If that pair (or any other riders) are also running an enterprise, wants reporting to both the local authority and the police, and some name & shame local media coverage wouldn’t go amiss, either.
This is exactly the sort of nonsense makes it so hard to acquire access routes for riders, and risks getting spaces closed down to them.
Posts 21 and 30, local newspaper where issues of locality are reported, not social media.I didn't see the beach encounter poster saying anything about being physically threatened or it being a commercial enterprise in that post so you clearly know more than me. To be fair neither did it say how far dog walkers were from horses going past them so that might be my assumption they were not right in the path of the dogs on leads. Aw a side point I absolutely hate sm witch-hunts so no I wouldn't name and shame.
Yeah, well.Missed post 30 (although doesn't mention this was a business, only riders). Sorry I still don't think people's names should be put in papers as a witch hunt exercise when people do not break the law. Report to police if it's a crime for them to deal with.
You would need to wonder what made her react so strongly to a couple of dog walkers with dogs on leads standing quietly out of the way and not bothering anyone. Not necessarily the poster, but maybe they get harassed on a regular basis and she's just had enough. Not that that justifies threatening to run someone over.
