Has anyone used him? I was talking to Peter Leonard (Ringwood) at Goresbridge sale, he used him this year. He reckons Cantoblanco will suit Irish mares.
Tom Reid may have experience of them as he is approved with WSI, but i dont see him as sire of this years or next years list of foals on the morningside website.
Only experience i have of him was last year and the semen was awful.
Hopefully now he is a year older it may have improved but the mare that was inseminated here last year didnt get in foal despite perfect timing on 2 occasions but then got in foal straight away with frozen from a differant stallion.
The first lot of semen we had was poor and had been collected from the airport by the mare owner so saw it for herself ,the second lot pretty much dead.
Cantoblanco is available exclusively through Elite Stallions. In his first year ( when only 3) the semen was not great to ship and was used on very few mares. In 2010 we had 50% of mares in foal to him, and will "test" the semen again in February, with the help of Stallion AI Services, prior to the 2011 season.
His foals are exceptional, and would frankly be every breeders dream. Long lined and long legged, he would appear to work well on a range of mares, but in particular would add quality and movement to heavier mares. I think he would work VERY well with event mares, adding scope and movement, whilst still maintaining lightness. If you have further interest or questions please contact me via my website or email.
