Hello all.Firstly this is not intended to turn out as a slanging match more of getting opinions from you lot.I do not hunt twice a week every week but do like to go out a few times a season hence it is not viable to pay full subs but day caps.I really enjoy the meet and will follow the hounds for an hour or two then head home. Our local hunt has gone from £30 to £45 for a days hunting,That is fair enough the hunt has a living to make but i cannot warrant spending £45 for a two hour hunt.Yes i could go out all day and get my monies worth but because i have Rhumatoid arthritis i cannot last all day without it starting to ache and hurt.So what are your opinions on this??.A few of my friends will just take a tenner and throw it in the cap but i would feel mean by doing this!.Do you think they should have half day??.Thanks for any imput!.

One of the hunts round here do special rates for people who just want to go out half a dozen times or so - like a day ticket. Perhaps you could enquire whether your hunt would be open to the same suggestion if not doing so already.

Your local hunt is good value!! I have given up hunting sadly because, like you, I only want to hunt occasionally and then not for long. Our cap for adults per day is £70!!!! We can buy 8 vouchers but it still works out to about £65 a time, way too expensive for 2-3 hours. I do miss it a lot and wish there was a way of going out for less

yeah i think the North Cots is around £80, i'm not sure though. But i get charged £40 per day as i'm a student!

It is a lot and i go out once, twice a month at the most but then i do tend to stay til near enough the end! I do agree though it's a lot to pay.

£45 is cheaper then my hunt - its is £50 for ours. I was also told by one of the hunt girls that she was offered a hunt in Devon but the cap was £150

A neighbouring hunt to me charges between £120 to £150 for a visitor....needless to say we don't go with them very often. Given current climes won't be going with them at all......

ours is £45 and £60 on opening/boxing day/ new years which is pretty expensive!

this boxing day there will be me, OH and daugther ....... not a cheap oiting then there is diesel, etc on top!!

eeeekkkk...... scares me but this year its our treat to our self.

other wise im afriad i may only get out twice this year due to costs

Rising costs aren't only affecting those who ride with the hunt, but the hunt themselves. There is a lot of bills which need to be covered to allow the hunt to survive and as a result in straitened times the subscriptions might need to take this into account. We try to keep ours in line with inflation by making a small increase every year, rather than a huge jump every 5 years. We also try and keep the subs for car followers as low as possible.

If you can support as many hunt events as you can - things like balls, quizzes and the social calendar then that will ease the pressure on the bank account slightly and maybe help to keep subs as low as possible.
