So if you were searching for a horse to buy and it fitted your criteria in every way, but it had a capped hock, would this put you off?
Would it affect its value?
Would it be an insurance exclusion?

Depends what you want to do with it. We had one that jumped with no problems, but it wouldn't have shown - fortunately not our thing.

Unless it was a show horse it would not put me off, it should pass a vet without any problem and it should not be an issue for insurance as it is just a blemish not something that will cause problems in the future.
I dont think it should have any real effect on value unless it was a top end horse in which case it could bring the price down slightly.

It is a blemish and does not effect performance but would be a problem in the show ring.

I am told that Cleveland Bays can get them, usually caused by stabling without adequate bedding. I have never had one of my horses suffer from this.
