Caption this ...

Ah, he's bred by Margaret NJ, she has produced some true dual purpose shepherds, a real combination of show and working lines. I hope the planned mating is successful, will look forward to photos of the resulting pup. :)

Smart boy, great pics :)

Some good dogs in the Scandinavian countries, a Danish dog won the Universal World Championships in Germany a few months back.
Mine is pretty much all Belgian and does not have the off switch of which people speak ;) suits me fine though, he's a lot of fun and never stops trucking.

Thanks. I would love to see pics and pedigree of your dog please :)

Gave up on Photobucket, years ago lol.
He looks like a wolverine :p and goes back to dogs like Ugo Burenswald and Belschik Eikner Bruche, then to the usual Troll/Fero/Mink lines on all sides.
He also has one solitary line back through an English show female back to the double Sieger Uran. But we don't talk about that :p
And to Dux Berg Esch and Ary Rothenfurth, who were imported to the UK by show kennels to diversify the lines.

Sounds like a strong dog! I had a nosey back through some old posts on GSDs and found photos (yours is the black longcoat?) - very nice. Are you competing with him? Which club do you attend? My friend tried unsuccessfully to tempt me to join a club she started near Edinburgh.

Photobucket drives me insane too, so I don't blame you for giving up on it!!

He's a handful, but lots of fun, I'll go back to that type of breeding if I can find it when I'm looking again, not really in fashion any more.
He qualified IPO3 last year.

I think WLs are definitely a handful and need plenty to do, but I have found mine much "easier" in many ways because he has such solid nerves and a social temperament. My reason for agreeing to breed from him (which was never in my plan) is in order to hopefully pass on his good temperament, working ability and balanced nature.as I want another just like him! The bitch is similar in nature (she has IPO2) but from different lines, so it will be very interesting to see what the pups are like.

The bitch recently had a litter from this dog - who I also really admire, so if my boy wasn't being used next year I would have been sorely tempted to have a pup from that pairing. http://en.working-dog.eu/dogs-details/2491252/Amagers-Urban

To those who love the working shepherds, have you ever considered a pastore Italiano? It's an ancient breed, much valued by search and rescue,a black shepherd..
Have a look at the gallery here..

So far they are fairly protected, not overbred and a healthy hard worker...long and short coats, only black in colour.

I have never heard of these before ... off to research. Thanks for the link.
