Had my car insurance through. Its a 996 cc vauxhall agila,so hardly a sports car! It had increased substantially, so dutifully did price comparisson, via web and phone. Found several companies either wouldn't insure or loaded it- because my husband( who is the second driver,no convictions or fines and clean licence) works in the equine industry. We are both the wrong side of 40,so not exactly boy racers!
None could offer a reasonable explanation apart from saying " horses are dangerous". But,he doesn't use my car even to travel to/from/around at work! Does it mean the insurance industry is making a generalisation that workers in the horse world crash their partners cars?!
Anyone experienced ths,or is 2012 the start of fleecing the world even more with insurance? Found a decent company after alot of work, and over £100 cheaper than my original one. Original one also penalised me for being married to someone who works with horses, when I queried increase.

Similar for those who work in the motor industry (in whatever field)

Such a generalisation for each job sector

My DH would lose his job if he has in excess of 3 points on his licence at any one time (contract states so = instant dismissal) so is very careful about commuting etc.
He only needs insurance to get to & from work as is covered by company ins when at work, yet the car ins co tried to load it by more than 47% last time on renewal  Bloody madness. Cheaper to be fully comp insured on a (rather lovely ;) ) top of the range new superbike, than the 10 yr old cheap jalopy we use as a run-about -

Sure he'd love to be a librarian,he's dyslexic :D
Seems the insurance industry makes sweeping generalisations about how you drive according to the sector you work in,then and not your own ability(or lack of)?
New one on me,as not experienced it before!

Yep, working in the law makes your insurance expensive. Haven't a clue why, I was an insurance law specialist for a while too working at a firm that investigated insurance fraud!
