It's that time of year again! I hate it!

Insurance due on '53 reg Discovery, I'm 24...25 two days after renewal date! Anyone got nice cheap insurance recommendations?!

Oh..no comments please, it was my Dad's mad idea of a birthday present because (quote) "I didn't have time to go to the shops"

Thankies!! x

Try the insurance supermarket type searches.

I'm with Esure at the moment though I think the cheapest when we had the Terrano (and I was only 22/23) was Elephant.

Gutting that you're 25 two days after renewal, can't you get some temporary cover and then try and get a quote elsewhere once you're 25?

do you have your dad on your policy as a second driver, that can make a big difference to the cost plus would it be worth not driving for 2 days (take leave and get dad to drive you everywhere)to reduce your premium. Do a confused or elephant search to find the cheapest/best

I used to have Dad as second driver, but decided to "go it alone" to build up my no claims.

I will most probably not drive for two days, I car share anyway to work so will be a lady of leisure instead!

Try Andy/Darren at Lloyd Latchford brokers - theyve always come up trumps for us - 01844 275555
They'll do the shopping for you and if you have a claim they are really helpful, years ago I was with the NFU and they were good then too.

I would certainly ask a brokers office to look for you rather than using price comparison sites on the internet, they arent necessarily the best deals around. (People want you to buy their expensive products so wont always give you internet access to the better deals).

Many years ago I got a wonderfull deal with Iron Trades through our local broker.

have just had to do a car for 17yo daughter ( 53 peugeot 206) and one for my 21 yo son and his 19yo girlfriend (old corsa) tried confused & compare but ended up with Quinn. they were cheapest by hundreds. i have used them for public liability at work before they are very competitive, were based in ireland but know have a branch in uk. you can find them on google. quinn direct. good luck

If you're female, try diamond as they are pretty cheap i find and mine is cheaper if i out my parents on as named drivers. Elephant is underwritten by the same company (think is alliance cornhill although not 100% sure??) and is also good value. More Than is also pretty reasonable. I have a Grand Vitara and not had a problem insuring with diamond though.

Not tried Direct Line but they are doing a big push advertising wise so may be worth ringing. Get your quotes and just keep ringing. A lot with give you a 10 mth accelerator policy so you get a years no claims after just 10 mths. I did this initially, you just have to check it is recognised by other insurers.

I had tried Norwich Union (quote me happy - whatever!) but found them most unhelpful. Think a lot of brokers will use NU though for agricultural type vehicles.
