Hi guys,
Am posting this in here as its slightly related to dogs!(and your a nice bunch)
I *think * my car loan will be approved on mon and if so i will have 5000 Euro to go car shopping with.
But i am at a loss really as to what to get, used to have a freeander and loved it but it it had sooo many trips to the garage i swore never again.
So, if you had my budget what car would yo get to fit 2 biggish dogs , a multitude of horsey gear, and the newest i could possibly find in that price range ?
Also pref under 1.8l for tax reasons and i do like diesels..
What cars do you guys all have?

I've got a vauxhall astra estate (55 reg) which was about £5k 8 months ago, I utterly adore it, not had any problems so far, touch wood. Boot is plenty big enough for two GSDs (bought with that in mind!). Mine is the 1.8l petrol so expensive to tax but goes like s**t off a shovel, good on the fuel though, wouldn't swap for anything else!

I downsized from a PT cruiser two years ago having previous to this always had large estate cars & double cab pick up.

I now run a Smart Forfour and it can carry two Borzoi with the seats folded or four adult people and one Borzoi. It will carry three bales of bliss or about ten sacks and I get 70+ MPG on a run, 60 odd pottering around locally.
Mine is the 1.1 petrol but there are diesels too.

Honda CRV, honest to god the best car ever!

My OH adores his, we fitted 5 big dogs in the boot with loads of room to spare the other day, plenty of room on the back seat for horsey gear if the boots full. Just brill!

Been good in the snow too!
Unfortunately the diesels are so good they are bleedin' expensive and the petrols are fairly thirsty, but they are still brill!

Thanks for replies guys, am thinking the estate option sounds good. Need seats as sometimes ferry elderly grandparents around!
Will look into skoda as besides the name iv never really heard complaints about them!
Also love the look of rav4 but think out of budget a little!

The Berlingo has seats too

The Peugeot 306 estates were very smart but they are quite hard to get hold of as they were a small car with a big boot, which is what everyone wants these days!

Citroen C5 diesel estate. Think you can get a 1.6l.

A lot of bang for your bucks

cos they're not fashionable!

Big boot, very comfortable and high spec as standard.

At the moment, I'm looking at 06/07 reg high mileage C5's - average prices are £4 - 5k (but I'm sure I could get that down a bit

) That's in SE England. Could be cheaper if I bought up North.....I bought my last C5 in Northampton 3.5 years ago at just under 3 years old.....cost me 4k with a knackered Xanthia as a part ex.
I'm guessing the OP is in ROI due to mention of Euro's and car tax? and everytime I'm home car prices horrify me

so bloody expensive!
