What's the best remedy for car sickness in dogs?

Baby collie is car sick....my others grew out of it but I was wondering if there was anything to help him with in the mean time.

there has just been a post about this, if you search for car sick pup you will find some answers......most advice seems to be very short journeys to a nice walk or if that doesnt work start off by putting dog in car, maybe feed in there, then progress to switching engine on etc. i found my latest dog prefers to travel in a crate, ithink they feel more secure in a small space.....good luck

We used Stugeron (for people) on our whippet who was a dreadful traveler. We gave her half a tablet 2 hours before we went on a longish journey. We only had to do it once and it gave her the confidence not to worry. We also whenever we went anywhere with her, put her in the car and went a little way down the road and let her have fun. Throwing a ball etc and then put her back in and continued on our way. On arrival she had fun again and then a little food treat. On the way back the games again and back in the car and fun at the other end. Took us a few weeks and she goes anywhere now without a problem, because she knows it is a means to having fun.

I wouldn't like to say what dosage you should give, maybe your vet can help there. We were given the tip by a breeder of whippets. Apparently several of the whippet breeding fraternity have used this method. Maybe a question on the Whippet Forums might help you.

Good luck with it, it can be such a problem and they must feel so rotten.

Another whippet here who had stugeron as a puppy. We started off with a quarter of a tablet when he was tiny then increased the doseage as he grew.
Any time I forgot to give it to him he was sick again so it definitely helped.
He finally grew out of it but it took a long time.
