Hi there, my mare has just returned from vet college in dublin having successfully undergone surgery to remove both her udders due to a Carcinoma in her left one. I would love to hear from anyone else who may have experienced this with their mares as I have been told it is very rare for mares to get this disease in their udders. many thanks in advance

I know of one. Didn't have the tumour removed though and was doing very well two and a half years after discovery. Required careful cleaning and prevention of maggots in the summer and occasional bouts if antibiotics ( she was on steroids and had an initial course of some chemo therapeutics). She did have a minimally invasive type though with no spread to lymph nodes ( biopsies 6 monthly thereafter).

Thanks everyone, its great to know i'm not alone in this game!!:) Its still early days yet, but so far so good. Her lymph nodes were also removed, but so far there is no trace elsewhere in her body. Many thanks again
