I have used it in the past and its ok can be dusty though... For me it has to be Bliss bedding no dust and its so absorbent really easy to muck out and not expensive to buy

Brilliant stuff! No dust and very absorbant, easy to muck out too. Wouldnt use anything else now

I like it, it is lovely and cripsy when it goes in and soon beds down in to a lovely bed which doesnt move like shavings do. It can be a bit of a bugger to muck out though!

I'll second that - brilliant stuff.

And I'll third it!!!

I have changed to paper but only because I have found a very cheap local supplier otherwise I would still be using Ecobed.

I use EcoBed..................LOVE it!!!!! So easy to muck out, you can find every bit of poo

Also very absorbant. I have rubber matting and use only 3 bales to start off! Then 1 bale a week. It also stays clean unlike som other beddings. I won't ever change now.

Another vote for Eco-Bed Its dust free and makes a lovely bed, use mine on rubber mats 1 a week to top it up.
It also rots away really quickly so haven't got a huge muckheap.

I have been considering this but am worried that surely it gets a bit soggy and smelly ?

has anyone photos of their cardboard beds?

Ecobed's lovely stuff. i've used it for about 9 years now, wouldn't use anything else.
just be aware, some of the other manufacturers use cardboard with print on it, Ecobed don't... this makes a big difference imho, to absorbency, and also if the horse has a little nick or scratch on it, the print can cause infections (used to happen with paper bedding sometimes).
it isn't smelly at all, it's lovely and clean and very warm. very easy to muck out, also mulches down brilliantly, worms love it (if you have a local wormery, they'll usually take it for nothing once they realise how happy the worms are with it!)
sorry, haven't got any photos, but there are some on their website.

QR. Thanks guys, I am now seriously contemplating using this.

And ditto the question about deep litter etc, would it work well on rubber matting?

Also, my local merchant doesnt stock this so i imagine I would need to order it in, problem is, i want to try before I buy loads of it in... does anyone know of anywhere in leics / northants that stock it? welland valley feeds don't..

I used it with rubber matting. I used 10 bales to set the bed up BUT my stables are 17 x 13 ft and I still give a full bed with banks despite the matting. Personally I never deep littered it. You can normally tell where they have had a wee and just scoop that bit out. It is so absorbant the wee doesn't spread. Once a week I forked the bed up to turn it over. Thats it

i use it on rubber matting, never deep litter, i muck it out with a poo-picker (long handled bucket type). my stables are 15' x 15' so i put 4 or 5 bales in as initial bed, then about 2 a week, depending on how long the horse is in for, how mucky/wet s/he is, etc.

Where in Hampshire can you get it at that price? I live on the Hants/Berks border and would love to find a local supplier.

SCATS in Basingstoke don't do it. Anyone know anywhere in Berkshire that does?

I really like it. It doesn't break down to dust like shavings do so you don't need to top it up as often. I deep litter on it and get on really well with it. The bed is quicker and easier to muck out.

The only thing I don't like is that, although I only top it up about once every 3 weeks, the bags only contain half as much as a bag of shavings so where I would usually put 1 bag of shavings, I have to put 2 of cardboard. Much less dusty though.
