Hey,

My partner wants to move to cardiff next year once i finish my university course and i want to go but have no idea what to do with my horses.

I have 8 horses, and i have worked out that atleast 2 (that is if my old mare lasts this winter) horses can stay with my mother and perhaps my shetlands, though i would love to take them with me. (if my old mare dies then either the wild filly or the shetlands will stay with my gelding at my mums).

Ill have to sell 2 of my welsh mountain ponies, last in first out sort of thing (i would love to keep them but they have too much potential to waste), but the filly i brought with the two geldings cant go anywhere as she is still very sensitive and wild.

That leaves me with 2 mares and possible 2 shetland mares to house... they live out all year round as one mare is claustrophobic and the other gets serious pmt if she is stabled. Ive been doing some research on cardiff, but without knowing the area i have no idea what im doing.

Ideally i would like around 5 acres for my horses if sharing then more. There needs to be some sort of shelter, eg thick hedgerows of a feild shelter.

I know its a long way off but i need to plan it, if i cant take my horses with me i wont go. If anyone knows the cardiff area, anything would help. Really i suppose i should concentrate on selling my geldings first, but without looking atthe bigger picture im getting rather down about it as i have no idea what will happen to my relationship if i say i wont move to cardiff.

Anyone talking sense would be great, ive worked myself up over this.

Hey,

There is a thread somewhere around here regarding livery in Cardiff - will be worth searching and having a look.

Born and bred in Cardiff and I think it's awesome but then again I am biased! lol.

Will PM you with more details in a bit.

I'm unsure of the situation with grazing for hire in Cardiff, I've never heard of any, I know plenty of liveries around there but this would be too expensive by the sounds. Maybe worth searching for grass livery at the known liveries?

Also is it definately Cardiff you're moving to as in not a bit Newport way etc? As there's a place by Cwmbran that's £10 a week grass livery per horse with good hacking etc.

There's a lot of helpful people on here closer to Cardiff than me who have helped me out before & know a lot more places. Good luck!

Hey thanks, i will search for it.

im from cardigan, want to move closer to a larger town/city but wanted to stay in wales and close enough to my mum and family.

I guess im most worried about not taking the horses with me and them being save where i choose to take them to.
