* CARDIFF LIVERY HELP *

Yard politics are everywhere if you let yourself get sucked into them! Don't judge a yard especially if you haven't experienced it first hand. All yards have different effects for different people - all depends on the individual involved.

I am at Lower Stocklands and have been for approx 3 years. I have never had any issues there (touch wood) and would highly recommend it. I have been to 2 other yards in Cardiff which were horrendous and would never move my mare again unless I had my own land.

Hi KerslakeEquestrian! I move to Stocklands in 2 weeks so just wanted to say hello :) would be nice to know someone to say hello to when I arrive! x

I would strongly reccomend you dont go to stocklands!!! i had a nightmare of a time there. there are far to many horses there it just seems rob is trying to put as many horses as possible on there, the fields are badly fenced and rob is not horsey in the slightest so has no idea on correct management was horrid i was there for about 2 years so glad i am no longer there thank god!!!

:O I'm not the only one on here in the area! I think I might know the yard you're on at the moment, sounds a bit to familiar! I've been to Alps park a few times for competitions and the yard seems brilliant, can't imagine it would be cheap though :S

And yet some people have been there since the yard opened - around 10-12 years, which speaks volumes.

you will find the yard has a high turnover there are a few that have been there for awhile these are the trouble makers or the ones that think they can run the place and boss people around

I've never been on a yard in my life that every past client liked ;)
Do your research, choose a yard that suits your needs and don't embroil yourself in yard shenanigans and you'll likely be fine :)
There are a few nice yards in the area, Dryscoed, stocklands, heard good things about bob porters too. :)

Hello again! Just an enquiry really as im thinking ahead to the summer...

I am currently at Stocklands and I love it there (despite what some have said on here!). Theres a lovely group of girls and Rob and Jane have been nothing but lovely to me. BUT...

Myself and my pony have decided we actually dont like schooling very much, and whilst there is some hacking around the farm I would like somewhere that backs on to some bridleways or common ground so that we can just hack hack hack. Stocklands are putting prices up a little bit which has just made me think its silly paying for something that isnt quite right for me.

Im likely to be working between Cardiff Bay and Cathedral road so somewhere that isnt much more than about 10 minutes off the route between those two. Does anyone know of anywhere?

Menage not really important but would be nice, DIY and 24/7 grazing is very important. Any ideas?

Thank you!!

Sorry I am unable to help, but a thought just occurred .... There may be one or 2 properties with land for rent in the area ?
Just a thought
Hope someone can answer your livery question soon.
Teg :)

I'd stay where you are Ilikethemhairy.

You have plenty of riding across the road in Pentyrch and up to the Garth, and surrounding area.

Also down to Peterson Super Ely, St Fagan's etc.

10 minutes from Cardiff Bay to Cathedral Road would only allow the Penarth/Dinas Powys area really and the hacking there isn't great. I'm at a lovely yard in Dinas that might have a vacancy (would have to check with YO) but we have to do a good 15 minutes along busy roads to get anywhere worthwhile and even then it's not extensive hacking.
If hacking's what you're after, you're better off in the area you're in, although there might be a few cheaper places with fewer facilities than Stocklands around. Pentrebane Farm springs to mind although it's much closer to St Fagans so you'd have to go much further for the Pentyrch hacking Amymay has mentioned.

Rudry is probably the only area with brilliant hacking on your doorstep - which is probably too far out?
