My mare has severe bruising to her toe area on her near fore which left her on three legs and unwilling to put any weight onto the foot at all
She has been on box rest since Tuesday, with the foot hot poulticed (drawing out the blood on advice from the vet following xrays) and heavily padded. This morning I walked her out of the stable and she was a little better, but still quite sore
The thing is, she started off hopping out, but when she had been out for a little bit (just tied up) she seemed much happier and walked out on it better.
I was wondering how much box rest people usually give horses with bruising? I was thinking of putting her in the field for a little while tomorrow... but will this make the bruising worse if she goes out with a poultice and padding?
