My cob has got what I'm guessing is bog burn. I've heard about using pig oil to help prevent it but I'm not at all keen on the idea having read about it causing burning and he already has sensitive skin. Is there an alternative that may help prevent any further breakage and encourage his feather to grow back? Would Vaseline on the hair (but not the skin) have any affect? TIA

I believe that reactions caused by pig oil are to the suplhur that it is usually mixed with. You could use baby oil, which would protect the hair but is still just a more refined verion of the pig oil.

I should imagine that using something like vaseline would be horrible, as its thick and would attract lots of dirt
