Care of new boots!

I was a very lucky girl and was bought a lovely pair of Mark Todd leather riding boots with the fleece lining (soooooo comfy!) but I am unsure how to look after them properly?

I was told to buy some Dubben which I did but that says do not use on nubuck and I am worried I will ruin my boots if I use it (not entirely sure if they are classed as nubuck??) The care instructions just say to use a conditioning cream or wax but don't specify a product.

Does anyone here have the Mark Todd boots and if so what do you use to clean yours?

I was a lucky girl also and and have the Mark Todd mauri boots :D and have been told to use Dubben by my dad. Havent even used them yet as I don't want to get them dirty in all this mud! Mine are nubuck, so it doesn't look like I'll be using Dubben..:confused: I'll have to keep an eye on this post!
 
Best thing is keep them dry and clean... you can use dubbin or other greasy dressing on nubuck but it will make it darker, blochy, softer and shiny .. but will help waterproof and preserve them, this is only a good idea when you have worn them for best for a few monthes and they have become yard boots!!! there are non greasy products but all will change the look of the leather esp the pale honey coloured ones ...

Didnt pay 99quid for them though! :D

ALOT of people have noticed that for the 1st few times when you get them wet they come up with a white 'fuzz' - this seems to be normal and everyone has agreeed that we just rub it off with a damp clean cloth and carry on.

Re-waterproofing ect =- They are LEATHER - Nubuck is a fancy way of saying soft supple leather - its the word Suede you have to avoid!

I have so far used:
Albion saddle balm
Carr Day and martin Saddle soap
That small white italian balm stuff - Renapur thats it!

All have cleaned them up and given them a little waterproofing to boot.
Use shoe polish if you want!

Dubbin is good - Will give the leather a supple feed and a bit of waterproofing too -
* Apply a small amount of dubbin/beeswax to cloth and rub over leather, spreading evenly.
* Leave for 30 - 60mins.
* Buff off with a dry cotton cloth.

******- Not tooo much - unless you want hay sticking to them foreever!*******

Should all be fine.
test in a small consealed area if your worried about darkening the colour or anything :D (between the calves high up is usually good place)

Oh and Enjoy! You toes will never be so happy!

WD40, the list of its uses goes on and on :D. Nice man in the saddlery told me to try it when I asked to buy some boot spray. It really does work, it doesn't change the appearance at all and it keeps them nice and clean and stops staining.
 
Thank you for all the tips. Will be trying to keep them as clean as possible so I don't have to treat them too often (wish me luck with the keeping clean lol)

They are so lovely to ride in and no cold toes - I don't know how I ever lived without them!
 
Santa brought me some Toggi Canyon Boots and Toggi Calgary boots for christmas, and im wondering the same thing, anyone have any ideas what to use on these?? Or have any experience in these boots?
I know the Canyons arent as expensive as the Ariat and Dubbarry boots, but id still like to make them last!!
