Does anyone have any experience of taking a career break to go and work with horses abroad?

I'm late 20's, have no responsibilities as such and would like to investigate taking a break from my career and working with horses abroad - don't mind where or what!

Any advice greatly appreciated!

yes, I worked for 3 yrs in Belgium for National SJ Rider, best thing I ever did. I was sick of the mon-fri regime........went over when I was 25yrs - there was loads of work.
Try HOYS, see who the non-uk riders are and give them your details.

Well, not much of an advice but I had the same idea after finishing my MSc - came over to England to work with horses and experience the way things are done here and was going to go back home after a year. However, I met my partner and a year became 5 years and I am still here

I am still working with horses full-time and know this is what I want to do for a living.

Ive just taken a gap year to Australia.
I did a weeks training course with a company called Outbackpackers where you learn to ride tractors motorbikes, quadbikes, horses, 4WD, fencing and use chainsaws ect. After that they then help you find jobs in whatever area you want and the type of work you want. So i worked on a cattle station first (though it was with quadbikes- I was dissapointed before i went that they werent horses but they were sooooo fun and now im very glad it was the bikes!) next i went mango picking. Not horsey related but was deffinately an experience. Then i did Melbourne Premier yearling sales. So spent 7 weeks at home with the yearlings, teaching and feeding ect and also had all the mares and foals on another farm across the road i helped with. Then spent a week down at the sales selling them all at Auction. Was such a good experience!
Finally they found me a job in Sydney working on anm event yard. (thought equine flu meant that the business hadnt realised picked up yet) but it was still good fun and i was still with the neddies

Good luck in your search! its deffinately worth doing!
