Carl Hester

He comes across lovely though but I bet he has his moments.

Charlotte may be a fab ride but she comes across as spoilt and a madam. The grooms on the show said she's really lazy and disappears when there's work to do

I met him once at Your Horse Live a few years ago - a genuinely nice person with no airs and graces and extremely nice about my dressage efforts (prelim in my cob). Also saw him riding Uthopia at the dressage demo on one of the dressage days at Badminton when he was showing how it was done on his younger horses. Have to admit he is one hell of a rider.

Umm, and should I admit this, he is pretty hot - what a waste of a man!

Oh dear.

I used to stalk, erm, watch him teaching at Gleneagles many moons ago and he must have thought I was barking but he came across as genuinely lovely.

Does everyone believe everything they see on the telly?

Bit Patronising aren't we? How exactly do you jump to the assumption that we must believe EVERYTHING we see on TV based on the opinions of one man on his tv show. Ahh, we all like him, therefore we must believe everything we see on TV, and everything we read in the media too:eek::eek::eek::eek:

What 'work'???

Do you expect one of our top riders and best chance of a gold to be mucking out in the mornings?
She isn't a groom, she is a top rider, I very much doubt being lazy has got her to where she is now...

By making that comment you're implying that you know something different. Do you, or are you just trying to cause arguments?

I think Carl Hester appears a lovely person -a real horseman. I would love just to spend a day on the yard watching everything going on!

I think she lacks the warmth and personality of Carl and I tend to agree with you but, that said, I can't wait to watch her at the Olympics. I want Carl to get the individual gold, Charlotte to get Silver and the team to win gold! I will cry if we get that result!

I still think charlottes brilliant , she doesn't wind me up as much as a certain blonde show jumper.

Together though they are brilliant.

In terms of work, they show Carl as still mucking in quite a bit which is why they contrast Charlotte to that.

I don't personally think there's anything wrong with being expected to pack your own clothes etc even if your a top rider/ top business man etc

He seems genuine to me although like all of us I'm sure he can have his moments :D

I saw Charlotte at a demo last year where Richard Davison was giving her advice, she seemed nervous and a little uptight although she was on a young-ish horse, in an electric atmosphere and she's used to Carl's way of training.

I get the impression Carl will keep her feet firmly on the ground. He even said on one of his DVDs that he just ignores her sometimes. It was when she'd come out of arena and Carl asked how he went, she said he was too strong and carried on walking away. Carl just pulled a face and said best to leave her a while. When she found out she'd won, everything was brilliant, including the horse so Carl pulled another funny face and made a comment. She's quite young and no doubt feels the pressure a little on occasions.

They really do compliment each other in my view :)

Carl is as lovely as he appears on tv. I was lucky enough to work for a dressage judge in my teens who trained with Carl. Her top horse used to go and stay at his yard and I got to go a couple of times to watch her lessons.

He was so lovely to little me. Made me tea, wrapped me up in a big horse rug (snow coming trough the slats in the indoor school) and I got to sit and watch him teach. His facilities were amazing then (15 years ago at his old yard) (OMG I'm getting old!!!) the horses were imaculate and the staff lovely.

I can't believe I ever left that job and went to uni. Oh well.

What are you implying?

I really like Carl Hester, he used to have Moviestar who is local to me, I was at the owners yard recently (I do not know her personally) and apparently he really is as he appears. Even if it isn't, he sets an amazing example to his many followers.
