We are off to Burnham Beeches next, but really need to come up with something for the XC, I am thinking of maybe a nathe Jointed combination bit, does such a thing exist?
Congratulations, thats a great result, seems as thought the hackamore is doing the trick, you must be glad you went for it and tried it!! I also had to do a major emergency stop before 5 so that I could drop down the steps!!! bit hairy!!
CONGRATS!! What brilliant news this is E, you must be so thrilled that finally J is showing what he really can do! Great news that he was so promising in all three phases... and that he showed that he really loved his XC and still jumped even with dodgy steering! Beautifull pictures!! Do you think that he would still fuss about his mouth if you put a really simple single bar snaffle along with the hackamore?
I hacked him out with a rubber snaffle and the hackamore and he was fine, then had a lesson and put the nathe straightbar in with it and he hated it, so maybe worth trying the rubber one again....
Hello! It was good to meet you though I felt like a bit of a stalker or something saying hello to someone I'd never met before! Jerry is gorgeous! Glad you had such a good day - and I saw a couple of dunkings at the water so you were wise to go long route. I think it was so dark it must have been pretty offputting to the horses.
I got a few video clips but it looks like you got it all on video anyway. I got a great one of Jerry having a moment in the warmup
I've got the worst sunburn. I blame my OH for having to go into work at the last moment and leaving me to go to Carlton alone and therefore not putting sun lotion on me!
Great stuff - they are some lovely pics and I don't blame you for buying that last one, its a stunner.
I was there yesterday too and I would say that course was a true test of steering! We ended up jumping half the fences on an angle too, blow all my course walk plans. So if you managed to get round there with a hackamore the first time of using it then that was a good test and you did bloody well.
Presuming you'll both get more used to it from a steering point of view and as he's so happy in it, might be worth giving it another go at BB? From what I can remember there aren't nearly so many sharp turns there although there may be an angled double or two in there.
Really well done on yesterday, great that you had such a breakthrough. I think all of us that managed to get round clear in the blistering heat deserve an extra pat on the back(well our horses do anyway
BL**DY WELL DONE.. i was thinking about you yesterday and kept checking BDWP allllllll day so i am so pleased you did well. You really deserve it....long may it continue
