A friend today found her horse eating a pidgeon, well she found him with feathers and blood round his mouth and the remnants of a pidgeon, has anyone ever heard of this i thought it was really weird obviously, she asked the vet and he said he was lacking in something..

I've read about this in a US equine magazine. Several people described their horses ATTACKING and killing rabbits, hens, etc. I'll see if I can find the article...

Oh god! Yerk! My last ned, an unflappable though highly opinionated Haffie killed a duck. The yard had a flock of ducks and a duck-killing Weimaraner. Not a good combination I hear you all say! Friend was riding my Haffie in the outdoor school when said Weimaraner tried to ambush the ducks who leapt off the high bank in terror quacking and flapping as they tried to gain height. Sods law but the whole flock exactly hit my friend and horse in the face as they rode past. All Andes did was jerk his head up in surprise, dance around a bit and do a little leap to the side. After the panic had died down, there was a very, very dead duck under his feet. Could have been a lot worse but it still cost me a ragfork as I didn't know how to replace the duck except by buying a frozen one from Tesco! So bought them a much-needed ragfork instead. But Andes certainly didn't try to EAT the duck or ask for a doggy bag for it for later. Yerk. How would you kiss the velvety nose of a ned covered in blood and feathers? And where would he stop? Would it be sheep next? Then puppies and small babies? {{Goes away to lie down with an aspirin}}

Yes, pigeons and ducks. Not mine but a friend's Section D killed and ate at least three. Feathers and all - yuck!

Yep caught my old boy licking a dead rabbit in the field one day, must say I was gagging and astounded!!!

I have found bits of either magpie or pigeon in Neddy's field. I assumed it was foxes - now I'm sat here wondering!!!!

I used to ride for someone who's 4 year old used to attack and kill lambs and then gallop around the field with them in his mouth. Obviously he very quickly got moved fields. But he didn't eat them!

Omg I cant beleive this isnt a one off, this is very scary! Thanks god its not my horse, can you imagine a horse attacking you like a predator? Yuck makes me shudder, watch out everyone horses are on the up rise! lol

I used to have a donkey that would pick lambs up and shake them to death.

Lillie never ate them but she did use to take great pleasure in killing sheep by kicking them when she was turned out at college
