After much dicussion with my trainer yesterday, we both have decided to sell my gorgeous horse, for his own benefit. Its sad decsion for me as i have owned him for 2 1/2 years, and he has taught me alot. I just have no idea how to word the advert without making him sound useless. Possum is so talented and has an amazing jump, but likes to go deep into his fences and carn't really cope with going on a long stride, as i'm a wannbe event rider, you mite be able to see my problem.

Is it ok to say that we are just not compatable ? or does that imply that he's no good ? I just want him to have a decent home with an ambitious and able rider as he has so much to give and could be a very special horse, with someone else. As i will just hold him back and i don't feel as i will be ever able to event him as i only feel confident jumping him 2'6 but he lose jumps 1.25m. Please help !

Nothing to do with your original post....but out of interest i was caught by your subject title "Can't ride one side of it"...

It's a phrase i hear regularly and wondered what you meant by it...particularly in the context of this post

As to what you do about selling your horse...i wouldn't go into too many details...just say (if asked) that you think he is more suited to pure SJ'ing than eventing....

Hi My horse also likes to get in deep to fences and at first it took some getting used of ! It certainly isn't for the faint hearted !! But I would never swop him, he is as careful as a cat and I must say I have now mastered it, I allow him to jump how he wants to and trust him to jump the fences when we get there, 1 stride double he'll do 2, 2 stride he'll do 3 !! Having said this I compete BE to novice clear SJ and XC, BSJA Newcomers Clear etc.............. So you can still be a serious competitor you just need an instructor that will look at the way your horse jumps and go with it and build your confidence in him !
Have you any pics of him ? How much are you selling him for ?
