Pontispool has a Caroline Creighton gymnastic jumping / XC skills on a surface clinic listed in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone has had lessons with her and if so whether she would be well recommended? (For a 5yo aiming to start BE this spring)

On paper she certainly looks pretty fabulous but I have never met her or seen her teach so I don't know her style.

Thanks for any pearls of wisdom!!

Ooeerr, not what I was hoping to hear! But thank you for replying Curragh. It's bad news the consensus wasn't that great. It makes you feel awkward if you are out somewhere, having paid for a clinic but your horse is being tricky and the instructor doesn't seem supportive and helpful towards sorting out the situation. Nightmare, poor you.

She is my regular trainer. Can't speak highly enough of her, very good at assessing horse and rider. Very good at setting up exercises in school to simulate xc and doing grids.

I agree she is great. Have a dotty TB who is great competing xc but silly and fizzy schooling, she was very supportive and didn't make me feel like at idiot because my horse goes into melt down if the last to go. She was also great with the other people in the group who each had their own, different, probs. Would defo recommend.

I really rate her too. Have had several lesson in a school where she set up some cracking exercises and grids. Also did a course of SJ outdoor but jumped them on all sorts of mega angles. She got us jumping stuff none of us thought we could do, or were brave enough to do. She has a very nice, positive way about her. I'm astonished the first poster on here was negative about her!

Thanks for responding Sarah_Jane, Stephanotis and porkpie! I'll admit, I was suprised to hear Curragh's experience and was sorry as I was expecting something rather different, more along the lines of your subsequent experiences. Just goes to show, you cannot get on well with everyone, so the first time you go to a new trainer will a=lways be a little off beam. Curragh, it sounds like you had a rough day and I'm really sorry about that, but thanks everyone else for the more positive re views as well. I'm grateful for anyone who takes the time and trouble to put fingers to keyboard! THanks everyone!

Woohoo, I'm going! Have spoken to Pontispool and there is still space, so now very much looking forward to it. Will hopefully go to the xc school the following week too. Philamena, I will hope to see you there, I'll be on a 5yo too (well legally 5, technically 4 I suppose!). Bright bay boy called Boris.

HUrrah - hopefully see you there. Mine's Dazzle: 16.2 clipped-out bay mare with distinctive 3 white socks. Except you prob won't be able to see those for mud ha! I'm also booked on for the week after too!

Ah might know you then, did a clinic before christmas with Cindy Rawson? I was in the class before with bay mare from siggy. Have seen you about at dressage comps, always remember you because of your mares long white socks :) Sorry i'm not stalking I promise, just dawned on me that it could be you because of horses name :) small world.

Ah yes, that was us! Told you the stockings were distinctive :)

I recognise your horse's name from dressage lists & scoreboards too. I liked Cindy's way of teaching, she had us jumping from walk to try to calm my beastie down. Wanted to do one of her two day courses this spring but have done my budgets and can't afford it, boo.

You back out for dressage soon?

Yes we're normally at the bottom of the scoreboards lol. I will hopefully be competing next weekend, not going to go well judging by our school in the field today:rolleyes: mares eh! Although not done much other than lunging for a few weeks due to back issues :( Will try to get lesson this week as i'm riding like a sack of spuds :o

I think we all feel a bit like that this time of year... feel like you've taken backwards steps over the Christmas break. Is it Stockland Lovell you're at next weekend?

Yes off to Stockland (hopefully), although haven't actually sent my entry yet.... but got til wednesday :) Friend is going on her cob as well :)
You there too? :)
Oh you also parked next to me at pontispool as well, think that was last comp I did :)
