Whether you are an eventer, dressage queen or happy hacker you can’t have escaped the tragedy in the sport the last few years. Caroline’s last post was so raw and hard to read at times, and I have the utmost respect for those who are doing this crazy 1,100km bike ride to raise money for two very important charities.

If you are on social media, have a look at piggy march’s last video blog. It’s a sad watch and they are doing their best to raise whatever they can. Please if you can, consider donating. They are far below what they hoped and HHO has an amazing group of people on here- I know it can make a difference!

There’s another thread on it currently running in Equestrian news, but that board doesn’t get as much traffic as tack room. Hopefully more people will see it here 🙂.

This would be a serious challenge at this time of year even if you were an experienced regular club cyclist.

Thank you Michen, I have donated, I had forgotten to do it so greatful for the push. A charity I am greatful for

I broke my back in 2009 with a complete unstable fracture of my T12 and luckily the only last affects I have are the metal rods used to stabilise it.

I am for ever greatful to those around me that night as my story could have been so so different if they hadn't realised what I'd done and tried to move me, and then the paramedics/ hospital staff that repaired me.

If you read the thread that’s why I posted it in here too.

Thank you to all who have donated so far. I know money is tight this time of year but if you can spare £1, a little goes a long way.

There would have been so much money sitting in the BE party at the Savoy I'm really surprised that donations haven't massively increased overnight.

The bikers had a really hard slog and it's for such worthwhile charities I'm really surprised that more hasn't been donated by the people with money in eventing (owners, syndicates, companies/sponsors, landowners, etc).

It's a tough time of year to be asking the average Joe to keep digging deep.
