Carpodyl

Our 12yr old collie has just been changed from Rimadyl to Carpodyl, for an arthritic neck, when I have looked at the instructions it states not to give to dogs with renal problems. She has kidney failure, which she has a low protein diet for but no medication. Dose anyone know if Carpodyl has really bad effects on the renal system? She also had a Spindle cell carcinoma removed from her back leg in July, when the kidney failure was also diagnosed, and the vet at the time thought the cancer whould take her before her kidneys packed up completely.

You would be much better off asking your vet about this TBH - I very much doubt they would have prescribed Carpodyl if they thought it would be a problem, but they are the experts who would be able to set your mind at rest
