Carrot and Spud update!!

Thanks, that's all great to know. I've been feeling so emotional the last couple of days - not just (but mostly) because of the horses, but also because of what people can accomplish when they put their minds to it! And now perhaps, feeling cautiously optimistic about C & S, I can get some work done?? Pretty please? I hate being self-employed at times like this - there's no one to tell me to get off the forum...

BHS/RSPCA/WHW - the BHS were magnificent but could not have done what they did without the support of the RSPCA who will be pursuing any charges of neglect. So a big thanks as this is just the tip of the iceberg for what they deal with day in and day out.

Thanks for mentioning that - after the thread descended into an excuse for a slanging anti RSPCA match this is good to hear.

I wasn't able to keep up well with yesterdays threads but want to add my 'well dones' to all those who got involved on any level, whether it be contacting the BHS (and similar) to going down to Stamford and lending a hand, well done guys

It's great to hear the ponies have got through the night at least.

Sneaky log on at work to catch this update.

So pleased that Carrot and Spud have had a good night, lets hope it is the first of many. Keeping fingers crossed for positive blood results for them so they can be slowly nursed back to health.

Fantastic news!
Tank you slinky for the updates and insight to what it was like where C+S were kept.

Have just caught up with all the news from the last 2 days. Wow, what a fantastic achievement by all involved and a huge thank you to Andy & Chloe for taking the time and trouble to ask for help for those poor horses. Lets hope Carrot & Spud make it and go on to enjoy life a little. At least they are now safe and being cared for properly.

HI everyone - have not had a chance to read through this thread yet, but got the main gyst I think - they got through the night and seem to be doing ok thus far - what a relief - so lovely to hear!!

I have just posted on another thread, but just came accross this one too - so thought you should all know - pass the word please...

I have just done a search on Stamford Horses and the Rutland and Stamford Mercury have an article up online stating exactly where the horses are!

We've got to get this taken off line asap and hope to god they have not put it in print...

Obviously this is disastrous - its the local paper of where the owner lives, so if he sees that, he will be down there like a shot - and from what some of the posts said yesterday - he was not a nice man!

Having got this far peeps, lets not have it all ruined by reporters messing up - I guess this is why the BHS were not keen on them being involved at all! And we all know reporters never do what they are told, report what they are supposed to, say what they are allowed to etc.

Somone has to get on to them and quick... I would, but I am at work with my boss sat behind me so not possible I am afraid...

Excellent - thanks B 2 B!

I'm new on here, and its taking me a while to find my way around to be honest! I am sure I will get the hang of it soon, but in the meantime, just want to say a MASSIVE well done to everyone who has been involved, from those who were there at the field yesterday, to those sitting here like I was yesterday waiting for updates, to those who kindly stayed on late at work who were in contact with the field team - to provide us with the updated and last but by no way least - to those incredible people Andy and Chloe who started this whole thing rolling in the first place.

I was in tears yesterday, and my whole body went all tingly when I heard the vets verdict. In a world which has so many negative things going on, this just proves that when it comes down to it - phenomenal people do exist, and they exist in abundance.

I feel priveledged to have been watching this from the outskirts.

Good on you all...

Well done once again and thankyou for keeping us informed.

As the owner of an elderly gummy mare I know the problems they encounter trying to sustain weight but that is no excuse for the condition Spud and Carrot were in.

Last night I went to my yard and just hugged my girlies, thankful to know that they are in my care and not some idiots xx

To all those who asked for further updates and photos - I will get updates on a regular basis - not sure about photos but will ask!!

To whoever it was that asked about food - they will be fed a fibre based diet with a balancer and oil gradually added in on a little and often basis. The whole reason, as I understand it, for not feeding them prior to the vet/police/RSPCA seizing them is that the vet carries out blood tests and any recent food would show as sugars in the bloods which would obviously muddy the arguement of neglect. Then other thing to consider is that while they are clearly starving to much food of any kind to quickly can overwhelm their gut and cause colic and a multitude of other problems for them.

Hope that helps.

Hello - I was referred to this forum today. Would someone be able to help me get up to speed? I am interested in reducing the amount of time it takes to get action in welfare cases
