Carrot & Spud - good news!!!!!!!!!

[ QUOTE ]
I can't quite grasp how a picture can be flipped yet still be from the 'same side'! - oh well, I can't grasp many things! My head hurts.

[/ QUOTE ]

lol, neither can i but my OH's software can do it i promise!

For those of you that are querying the photo I have just received a message from Bransby - the photo of Carrot had been flipped so they are facing the same way - it is definatley Carrot outside his stable

This is from 'the horses mouth' of the people who care from him every day and from myself who has seen him since the rescue - good enough?

But Slinks, his legs have changed colour, he's smaller, and his markings are very different.

Not trying to pick an argument - and whatever pony it is I'm delighted that it's getting care. I just don't think it's Carrot, and the website is therefore misleading.

Brilliant news! Bransby isn't too far from me, I will have to go and visit them when they are out in their new herd.

Well done everyone, what a success story eh!

brilliant news, and the pics say it all. WOW. take my hat off to the people at Bransby.
i will take great pleasure in forwarding this link to the vet who ignored their plight and seemed to think it was "fine" for them to look like that "because they're old", am sick of being fobbed off about this. that attitude is for idiots who know nothing about horse care, not for a VET!!!

Wonderful to see, well done to everyone involved.

One little question, it looks like Carrot's white sock has moved from one hind to the other, is that right?!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep spuds stripped hoof has too...... think they have printed one batch of photos the wrong way round!!!

They look fab

i've just checked against the video footage i took the day they were rescued. i videod them as i walked all the way around them. i am positive it is him, but the first photo is flipped (as proven by the invisible headcollar buckle!).... stupid really, as it does confuse.

It is the same pony, the Carrot arrival photo was taken on his off side therefore if you were stood where the pony behind him is his face would be to your right and his hindquarters to the left therefore his off hind leg with the white sock would be the hind leg furthest away from you. If you look at the Carrot 'later' photo this has been taken correctly on his near side. The photographer has simply flipped the image horizontally to make each comparable with one another. Hope this makes sense...

They both look fantastic, and im so pleased they have found a new lease of life. I pass by Bransby everyday on my way home, must make time this year to call in and say hello to them both!!

btw, to further convince the doubters... i showed the photos i took that day to the Blue Cross stand people at Burghley, 1 of whom was experienced at equine rehab. she was truly shocked at the state of Carrot, said you just do NOT see emaciation of that level in the U.K., it's the sort of thing you see in the 3rd world... so, i hardly think they'd have found another chestnut as emaciated as that to stand up next to Spud that day...
the head markings are confusing because the bit that goes off the side of his head above his eye is only on 1 side, his off side.

[/ QUOTE ]

I assumed that the emaciated one was Carrot, but that the improved one was not, not the other way around...... And that there was simply a mistake in which 'improved' picture of a particular chestnut pony had been printed. I was not trying to imply there was any attempt to mislead - just a mistake.

Oh that's a lovely post to see, made my day. Amazing what can be done and probably just in the nick of time too for both of them. I didn't see the pics before so had no idea how awful looking poor Carrot was when originally found.

would you like me to upload the vid i took to photobucket and link to it, then you can see that his white sock doesn't migrate to the other leg, i swear!

We had a lovely photo of our coloured cob on the wall for years - then a friend pointed out that it had been printed back to front so that his ears (one black one white) had swopped sides

My word what an amazing unbelievable difference, I am so so glad that this story had a happy ending.

Lucky Carrot and Spud to be saved from such a pitiful existance and to have a secure home for the rest of their days,

Fantastic news!!
smile.gif
Shocked at the initial photos
frown.gif

The two photos of Carrot are definately the same pony- isnt it perfectly obvious that the second photo has just been taken from a different side to the first photo. Re; the colour of his legs- this will have changed now that his coat is in better condition.

That's just brilliant to see. Words fail me with regard to the vet who originally said these horses were not in danger. Spud perhaps could have just been an old boy who people were having trouble keeping weight on, but poor Carrot was something else. Literally just skin and bone. So glad they have a safe and loving home for life. xx

I've flipped the photo back to what it would have been if it had not been flipped over in the first place
