Hi I went to have a second viewing today with a horse I really like. He is Connie cross ISH and 4 r 5 Today he did a intro and I had never noticed it on the last viewing a week before but he was carrying his tail high but not to one side. I was going to get him vetted but now think this may indicate a back problem? x

Just because hes not an arab, tb or welsh doesnt mean he cant hold his tail high. He was obviously relaxed in what he was doing and was swinging through his back when working and a lot of horses can hold their tails up. Id rather have one that went round with its tail up than clamped to its backside.

If youre worried have him vetted anyway and ask for him to be seen under saddle.

As long as it was swinging there is no reason to suspect a back issue, he may well have had it up higher than usual due to the excitement of being out competing, far better to be carried up than clamped down it usually shows they are loose through their back.

My little lad is 3/4 WB and since the day he popped out he's had a high tail carriage, and when he get's excited it can stick up almost vertically!

My warmblood carries his high and to the left and when he jumps he does this crazy tail flick like his daddy does!!!

When i had him vetted the vet tried everything possible to unbalance him regarding his tail and he didnt manage to so wrote on the vetting carries his tail his little own special way, does not affect him in any way!
