i dont have to drive to get to the horses(at home) but have to say my BMW 3 series isnt *as* bad as i thought it would be, a few minor slips and tiny skids but nothing awful.im confident driving in the snow though, i think people get in to trouble tentatively tapping the brakes etc.
I have a Shogun 3.2 and snow wise it will go anywhere but on ice its like Bambi it just slides - weighs close on two and a half ton and no 4wd will stop this once it picks up momentum, agree with above posts though about drivers and fully intend to go on a 4wd driving course to learn how to drive mine, thinking of swapping it for a 4wd Panda though, they do 45 mpg whereas my Shogun is lucky to do 20!!!
Hubby's P reg polo goes anywhere the 4x4s go and beyond without difficulty.
Will be devastated if it fails its MoT due to rust this year, it is the best car.......
It off roads with the best, often doing better than 4x4s. We managed Burghley 2008 without needing a tow! In fact despite the number of muddy show grounds we visit it only had to be towed once and that time it got further than most other vehicles.
This weekend it negotiated the (closed due to snow) A57 snake pass
