cartrophen injections

My old boy did. He improved slightly but it wasn't a miracle cure. He was 25 at this point so a younger horse might have better results.

Hi,watching with interest as my pony has just started a course of these..had 2 so far and no real changes yet so bit early to tell if they are/will work for him.

Yes a horse I take care of had them, helped a bit at first but in the end rocker shoes have been the biggest help for him. He had an injury to the joint between fetlock and hoof so not arthritis.

My horse has had them recently for a bone chip injury. They worked very well for six months, then he started showing lame steps again and has just had his first of his second course and has responded well again.

I use them on one of my horses - I gave her the first course of four and she has just had a single top up, think the last lot were a year ago.

I definitely notice a difference, however she does have another drug and she wasn't very bad to start with. I just noticed she wasn't so free moving going downhill, not a candidate for nerve blocking so Vet and I decided to treat her as a whole.

Fatty is half way through his first course yes we defiantly see a difference in him .
I looked into all sorts and the realisation that I can give cartofen ( proven to help )for the same amount as a supplement ( less evidence it will help ) persuaded me .

The horse is enjoying his work and is defiantly back to old self we are very happy so far .

Not a horse admittedly, but my 17 year old cat is on it and it's made a huge difference. He has a booster jab once every 2 months now, whether it looks like he needs it or not. One thing I have learned about Cartrophen is that it's much more effective when used proactively rather than reactively, i.e. regular boosters instead of waiting for pain to reappear. I also found that it worked at its best once we'd done the initial course AND had a couple of booster shots under our belt.

It's cheap, easy to administer and doesn't have nasty side effects.
