Hi

Has anyone had any experiences of using Cartrophen over a long period of time ?

Did there come a point when it was no longer effective ?

My horse has been on monthly injections, since late 2012, for advanced arthritis. He is currently sound so I am happy to continue with them, but I am concerned that a some point they will no longer be enough to keep him comfortable.

(He had 4 injections at weekly intervals at the start)

He is currently on no other mediation

I've got 2 oldies that have been on it for about 3 years now, it does make a difference, but neither are in significant work (30 yr old 14.2 pony and 16.1 23yr old idxtb that do a bit of light hacking and sometimes "play" in a school) the difference is most when it's due but we are debating the overall effect and time because it isn't cheap. Although I have a friend who's horse it didn't do anything for, so I think it's down to the individual.

Eta we had intensive to start and now have 3 monthly, think you may be more often? But have queried our intervals with our vet and iho this is what he recommends for ours.
