Seeing the horse and owner taking out cash at the cash machine on the H&H promotion made me laugh, I've also got off at a cash machine and stood there with my horse to get some money out. I've also ridden my horse into the middle of town to subway to get a sandwich and friends of mine took their horses to the McDonalds drive through... :D

Anyone else hacked their horses somewhere different???

I drive mine to the local bakery on a Saturday sometimes to get lunch.
Hubby goes and gets lunch and I wait outside with horse and carriage.
We then drive to the local park and picnic.

my daughter (aged 16) had to go and pick up her sister (aged 9) from school as I was delayed. rather than walk down the country lane (its not far) she rode!! school not impressed:eek:wouldnt let her go:D not sure if she was expecting her sister to walk behind her or get on with no hat!! I went mad but now its quite a funny story (tried not to show my face for a while though!)

In the holidays, a couple of us from the yard go and hack to the chippy or co op or pasty shop and get everyone's dinner, parking the horses up outside while one runs in :D

Sainsburys, and Morrison's, tied my boy to trolley bay...and then got an irate woman in local shopping precinct complaining coz it was a pedestrian only precinct... Local police told me I was ok, as a horse is a domestic animal...

I used to work for a lovely couple, who had a HUGE house in the middle of nowhere. I lived in a flat attached to the house, and had my dog and my horse there with me.

Whenever it snowed, I was sent off on my horse to do the food shop at the little shop in the nearest village. Tied him to the railings outside, filled two rucksacks, saddle bags, and carrier bags, then rode home.

I've also often ridden RDA ponies in training through a drive through Mcdonald's, and even into a shopping centre once.

Used to hack down into the villiage for stuff like bread and milk for the yard - it was quite far to walk... funny how the pony I used to ride was usually spooky at everything! But she was fine with me carrying a plastic bag of shopping back to the yard

HaHa,The ice cream van story brings back some memories for me.My first pony used to put his head inside the serving window because the man always
used to give him a cornet :D.I also used to ride another of my ponies up to the local youth club & chat to my friends, had my dad out looking for me more than once because it was late in the evening

Back in the dark ages when I was a teenager, having ridden the horse to the forge for his new shoes, I would always call for fish and chips before riding home :) We are hopng this summer to ride the girls down to the local farm shop, we have saddle bags in readiness :D

my horse goes to the village shop quite frequently (always costs more as she has to have an apple!) and to the postbox to post letters.

Years ago another village shop used to have a vegetable rack by the door - my old horse had his own 'tab' for his 'purchases':D

I have hacked to pubs and ridden almost into my locak shop. My pony was eyeing up the fruit and veg stand and pulled my mum who was holding her half into the shop.
Used to do paper round on her too and then go for a hack in the woods after. She used to stand on her own at the end of the drive but had to stip when an old grump complained she had ruined his garden whenshe snatched a mouthful of grass! :,)

As a teenager many years ago i'd go scrumping on horseback. I'd tie the waist drawstrings on my anorak very tight (i did say it was many years ago.) and with the apples with in easy reach i'd fill my jacket. Later on inlife i'd take my daughter to school on horseback with her doubled up on board with me.

Got carved up by a Tesco delivery van so badly it made me mad, and I rode my pony (12hh stallion) into the local Tesco demanding a complaint form. He was very well behaved, but I've never had such prompt attention from customer services.

LOL - love this one!

You wouldn't want ride into tesco now!!! Might put pony in mincer lol!!!

In the 1970 s I used to ride my pony up through town to my house to let her mow the lawn cos dads mower was broke.. She once jumped the wall and trotted off home to her yard.. The milk man caught her and brought her back with bit of roap tied to his electric milk float...
Often went for chips to chippy, or sweet shop up the lane.. No H & S police then!!

Henry sometimes visits my OH in his rampshed. I 'park' him in the middle of the ramps and demand a service. ;)

Other than that he's been ridden up someone's garden path to deliver a letter. The guy was a right ar5e (messed up my kitchen fitting) and was terrified.

I also once had a craving for a hot chocolate on a cold Spring ride, so rode up to Leith Hill tower and queued up with everyone else. Got a lot of attention and compliments on what a good boy he was (aside from him trying to get the cakes and biscuits at the front of the counter). We shared a flapjack and the hot choccie.

Really good stories. I've only ever stopped at a local pub and ASBO tried to go inside. He's also tried to go into a chip shop when my friend was riding him. It's an easy guess what type of bloke he'd if he was human. Cobs lol.

I've not taken my horse any where more interesting than a pub or cafe, and then we sit outside.

But I go to a pub that is particularly animal friendly and they have a photo of a pony actually standing at the bar! Apparently he's a regular but I haven't been in when he's there, I have met a bigger variety of animals in there than any other pub. There are frequently more dogs than humans, there is normally a cat or two, and I have also been in there when there have been hawks in the bar, guinea pigs and a rabbit!

The hare is stuffed though.

Well that explains it Kat! I can just see him at the bar with a pint of Guinness and a packet of crisps :D

Ha ha maybe it was your boy on a solo outing!

What concerned me about the picture was how the pony got in..... the door is pretty narrow.....
