Hi, has anyone got the riding version of the Cashel fly mask?
I was thinking of buying one for turnout as I much prefer the visability in these compared to the turnout version. I just wondered if it was as robust and is there a reason why it isnt suitable for turnout?
My horse is ultra spooky and was freaked out by the Shires version, the shiny material does make funny shadows as I tried it myself!! He currently has the Equilibrium midi but its not lasted long and has gone all baggy now, also when he rolls I find it gets covered in mud which affects visability whereas another horse wheres the Cashel and it doesnt seem to stick to it as much??
Thank youuuuu

I love the Cashel fly masks, although I only have the turnout version. I think that the visability through it is very good and I prefer it to both Shires and Equilibrium fly masks. I suppose, if you got the riding version you would have to put it on a breakaway/turnout safe headcollar.

We have one for a pony and he does everything in it - competing, hunting, hacking etc. Yes the visibility is excellent. Its the same design as the turnout version so I see no reason why it wouldn't work other than it is obviously made of finer softer material and would tear easily if caught on anything and I suppose if torn it could get attached to something which would not be good but the velcro should give way before it became a real issue. The turnout ones are excellent and I don't think the mud sticks to them badly - although in general it isn't as muddy at the time of year that you'd use a fly mask anyway so hard to tell really.

Got the turnout and ride on version - both brilliant :)

The ride on made of much finer materiel - not sure it would stand up to everyday turn out

The turnout version - although expensive initially - is prob the best. Visibility is good, they fit snug (whereas cheaper masks allow flies inside the mask ) and they last.

I've just bought a new one this year, only cos the new mare needed the one with pink ears :D

Sizing wise, got the "horse" turnout mask to fit ISH, (prev had WB size) although the ride on mask is bigger fit (not sure if this cos it meant to go over bridle or one size fits all ((sorry had it ages so can't rem the size))??)

Hope this helps :)

I have both turnout &full face riding one. I agree with above posters, riding one is a much finer, less robust material and the Velcro which attaches it is not as wide or as sticky as the turnout,so think a riding one would get trashed pretty quick if used for turnout(&they aren't cheap!). I also agree that sizing in the riding ones comes up big-I'd suggest u go down a size maybe? Flies would get under the ridden one in a way that they can't in the turnout,as it's stretchy under the jaw.

Love the turnout version cos it doesn't impact on creature's ridiculous eyelashes!
