After long reining my youngster out down the lane today i've decided we definitley need some kind of fly protection for work as well as turnout. We're in a horsefly prone area and the poor buggar gets bitten to pieces. Being the thin skinned, sensitive soul that she is she's started throwing major strops over the past few days since the horseflies seem to have come out in force. Also, being part appy she has zero of a tail to swat them off
Obviously i cant be angry at her for these mini tantrums but they are slightly annoying, she jogged the whole way back up the lane today with a few rears and general throwing herself around strops thrown in. She's a bit highly strung but this is completely out of character for her. I've seen the Cashel ride on bug armour online before but don't know anyone who's used them so would like to know if they're any good? I've also found a ride on fly rug by HKM on e-bay tonight and was again wondering if anyone has any experience of these? This is the HKM one:

Or has anyone used any others that i haven't thought of? I did think of just putting her saddle over her fly sheet but don't know if this would be too heavy or would cause pressure points/rub? Confused!!
