Let me introduce Cassidy to those of you who have never had the privilege of meeting him . I have had the honour of driving him to a few competitions and would best describe him as the ultimate professional. The horse with no vices or hangups. But he is more than that, he will cover for inexperienced riders mistakes, he forgives a rider anything as long as they are as keen as he is, to have a go.
As some of you will remember, Dennis, A,s Horse is recovering from grass sickness. Yesterday, Cassidy kindly stood in for Dennis at the area Tetrathlon at Borde hill. Some of you may even remember the disaster last year when A went to Hartpury for the nationals and had her Achilles tendon almost severed when unloading Dennis. So there was a lot of pressure on,particularly as this is A,s last year of PC Tet.
I watched Cassidy walk off from the box toward the warm up. He is NINETEEN. We know nothing of his history, except the suspicion that he has been there and done it all( he was probably even in the SAS if they use horses).I always worry about him, is he looking stiff, is his age going to tell! You think he is stiff and unlevel for a few strides, then it kicks in. OH MY GOD look at that horse move,he is like a panther.Well, to cut a long story short Cassidy took A for the ultimate cruise round Borde Hill, and incidentaly was the only horse in her class to go clear. A even forgot to hold on to him doing the slip rail, but he just stood there saying "get on with it girl,we,ve got a competition to win"
And win ,they did. So thankyou Cassidy ,you are truely a horse in a million

He is so special, on one occasion I took him to Royal Windsor for a policewoman to ride as her horse had colic. They did their !.20M in front of the queen. You just get the feeling with him that he is saying !.20M ,looks like a showjump, just smaller!

You can't beat Cassidy and he's totally ireplaceable! We always say if he could read the numbers he would find his way round a course of SJ fences himself.

How lovely! I have a horse just like that except his poor feet are dodgy, he's never met the queen though (although he is Irish Catholic and a bit republican so he says he wouldn't really want to...).

Well done Cassidy!! We need more like you and Oscar xx

Lovely post there Mike :)

We are off to Hartpury too having qualified at Borde Hill, can't post a pic as bought some but not yet been able to buy Spidge's £3 ones.

My daughter is riding the chestnut in my siggie as her own mare was signed off and I have started biting my nails already as my mare is 17 and I'm hoping Hartbury won't be one step too far for them - have you been before

What a lovely post - and an equally lovely horse!

Cassidy sounds like a bigger version of my boy, aren't they worth their weight in gold?

We NEED more details and more photo's please.
How long have you had him, what else has he gotten up to? Do you have any idea of his past?
Fab horse whose character just shines through. Love him.

What a super star! Lovely horse and lovely post, thankyou for sharing has put a big smile on my face. Horses like him truely are one in a million, hope you have many more years of fun with him :)

Brilliant thread. What a wise old boy. I love that first photo, you can see him planning his line to the next jump.
