Cast a shoe and was hobbling on that foot over the stones. Farrier coming tomorrow. Has been laminitic in that foot two years ago. No sign of laminitis, or heat or anything. Hoof looks fine, no injury. What do you think? YO says its because he is on 3 shoes, she is very knowledgeable and I am very neurotic.

I'd say you'll be fine 'til the farrier gets there. Most will hobble over stones with bare feet - some even with shoes on.
try walking on soft surface/grass and see if it's still hobbling....almost sure it won't be...

Don't worry, mine is flat footed and hobbles without a shoe. I try not to bring him out of the field until the farrier comes. Im lucky that I have a great farrier who gets a shoe back on for me within 24hours.

yup he will be fine I'm sure, last time mine lost a shoe was XC schooling and he was fine until we went over a stoney track and then he was sore but fine back on the grass again so I shouldn't worry, it is normal for them to be a bit footy if they are always used to having shoes on.

D is like that even with shoes on, just have to watch where we walk. Can you not wedge a load of cotton wool on the bottom of his foot with some vetwrap, just to provide some padding until the farrier comes? Or how about an equiboot? i have one in the shed as D throws a shoe loads, just clip it on and he can still run round to his hearts content without damaging the hoof any more.
