Castration Costs in Hampshire

Ok so I am toying with the idea of having my 5 year old miniature stallion gelded if I don't find the perfect new home for him so I rang my usual vets and three other local ones to get an idea of cost!!

BLOODY HELL!!!

No wonder people don't bother to get their colts castrated!!!!

From £350 to £800 from my usual vets who want to admit him.

£165 plus £40 call out fee plus cost of drugs local vet doing the deed at home

£250 to £300 local vets who want to admit him

From £200 local vets done at home

I am in southern Hampshire which seems to mean double the cost of everything!

How much would you expect to pay for gelding a 5 year old?

I can't comment on gelding a 5 year old (I am assuming he has two fully descended?) but my yearling was done at home (standing with sedation) and the basic cost was just about £100. With visit and drugs it came to £160. PM me if you want vet's details. I'm on the eastern edge of the Forest. The fact that you have a miniature might be adding to the costs and logistics as diong him standing would mean the vet having to be very athletic (and not have a bad back!)
