Castration how much

Hiya, I have a 11month old colt who at the moment has no "bits" to chop off however, he is becoming a little frisky and is kept in a field with my 2 mares so im going to have to separate him incase of an accident. I would rather wait until the bits appear but perhaps having him done now would be better. How much does a standing castration cost and how much is it if they are retained? Thanks Lucy

His bits should be there. Are you sure he isn't just holding them up in this cold weather?

A normal castration is £150-£200 depending on your vets.

get your vet to check and if he needs doing do it now when flys arnt about leave it much longer and you would have to wait till november again 200 quids tops

horses can pull the whatnots up tight inside when cold
