hi, ive been lurking in this forum for a whille, but i need some advice now so here goes! i am looking to buy a 2 year old WB, he hasnt had vaccionations yet. i think that he should already have had the jabs, & other than boosters in the future, i dont really feel that i should be paying for them. any views on this? thanks.

While they own him, his medical care is their responsibility, until you pay for him and then he is your responsibility.

If you want him cut and vaccinated I suggest you offer to buy him, only if they have this work done and put the offer in writing, that way you only pay the money when you get the vet paperwork that shows he has had his jabs and you can see he has been cut.

thanks for the advice. the problem i have is that they say if they didnt sell him then they wouldnt have him cut or jabs, so why should they pay. from my point of view, they may have kept him entire if they kept him, but surely they should give him his jabs whether they seel him or not. so this i think is unfair to expect me to pay for it. i have no idea how much jabs cost, but even if they're very cheap, i think its the principle of the matter that he should already have them done anyway. the other problem is, i really want this horse. and they know it too, and arent desperate to sell. in fact he is only for sale to me, so i dont feel i have any leverage at all.

I bought my little chap at 13 months. He stayed with the breeder until he was 15 months and the weather was cooler and he was then cut and his jabs started.

A lot of breeders leave colts entire so you can have the choice of gelding. Jabs - some people don't bother if they are not coming into contact with outside horses.

Personally I would just buy him and get him cut and jabbed myself if I wanted him.
