I'm all for letting the cat allocation scheme do its thing but I seem to be turning into some sort of B&B with rave reviews.

When the late great Mr C went on his final night time patrol the allocation scheme flagged up Benny at a local rescue. Desperately in need of a yard home as far too feral to be tamed. Apparently. He's now asleep on the heated floor and is as feral as the cushion on my sofa.

So the allocation scheme went back to work and Cali and Esme joined the yard from a mass rescue near Heathrow. Esme has taken over as yard manager and keeps the mice at bay. Cali is her pretty useless apprentice who "guards" the hay barn.

Two cats on the yard, one at home = all good in the human world.

Except....

When I brought Benny home I had noticed another black cat who was his spitting image in the vicinity of the yard. He got called the Doppelganger - or Big D. The ying and yang of black furry cats. One is actually feral, the other is more soft furnishings.

Big D has wafted through the yard on occasion but never shown any interest in stopping for a chat. Until this week.

3 weeks ago I scared a fluffy black and white cat out of the stable where Cali and Esme get fed. Various FB posts put out as it seems to be hanging around but it is very shy so not convinced it is a pet. Now called Fluffy. My girls seem to have welcomed Fluffy and I've caught it / her snoozing near them.
Big D then starts turning up more often. I am now a bit worried Fluffy is an unneutered girlie cat. I doubt Big D has had his balls cut off given the size of him.
Last week another black cat was spotted on the yard - short haired. No worries I think, pretty sure the neighbours have a short haired black cat. They do, but it is ear tipped. This one has 100% of both ears.
Then on Sunday I walk onto the yard and see Big D. Staring straight at the mirror image of himself (but slightly smaller) - so now I have no idea how many Big (or middle sized) Ds I have actually seen. Perhaps there are multiple!

Currently at 4 randoms and hoping desperately they are all boys before I am overrun with fluffy kittens.

The vets will check for chips if I can catch them but we are currently far, far too feral for that.

I'm not sure where the feline version of Tripadvisor is, but please can someone post me a few 1 star reviews?

(or maybe I just embrace my mad cat lady era)

I would borrow some traps and get neutering!!!! Although if you have a mix of boys and girls and I would have thought the yowling and fighting would have broken out by now? I can see you are Bucks, I may not be far and have 2 traps (actually on loan from Cats Protection) but I can lend them out so long as I get them back. PM me if interested.

Welcome to your new role of Official Mad Cat Lady.
I think i might just need to embrace it!

@Lady Jane if I get to the stage where they are hanging around enough to capture then I'll give the charity i got Benny from a shout. Currently I feel more like a holiday destination....

If I can get a photo of big D I promise to post it. He looks like a bad cartoon drawing he's so big 😁
