I don't leap down people's throats because of what they use on their horses :) I just prefer it if they understand why they are using particular things :)

On the subject of required bits for showing/dressage etc, I was moved down from 1st to 2nd recently in a ridden hunter class because my horse was in a snaffle. She is 5 and her jaw/tongue confirmation means no way would she take massive iron mongery in her mouth, nor is she ready for it anyway. Strangely enough we were beaten by a local pro producer whose horse was in a double

We then went on and won the Open class (despite the snaffle!):D

I have used:
Eggbut snaffle
Loose ring snaffle
Kinmblewick
pelham (with roundings and with double reins)
hanging cheek snaffle
fulmer snaffle
I also used to show jump a pony for a friend that was jumped in an cheltenham gag.
I would always school and hack in a snaffle, apart from my first pony whom I used to hack in a kimblewick. as she used to bolt with me :D I was only young though. Prob ruined her mouth though!

Not my horses, but generally snaffles - also a pelham with roundings which I wouldn't use again out of choice, I'd rather get the hang of double reins instead. And a bitless bridle, which took a bit of getting used to, but which I actually quite liked once I had.
