CAT C or CAT C1...again....apologies!

Right have decided to bite the bullet and do my lorry licence but am dithering over which one to do. I know the difference in terms of limitations and realistically I am unlikely to ever need to drive over 7.5 tonnes but if it's literally just the extra couple of hundred quid for the lessons and test I figure I may as well do the CAT C? Is the CAT C1 easier to pass? Other than financially has anyone got any reasons for doing the C1 over the C?

I was going to do the cat C1 but on speaking to my instructor he suggested going for the cat C. There is not a huge difference in price and the test is exactly the same, you just drive a bigger version.

I am unlikely to use it but would rather have it for a couple of hundred pounds extra rather than need it in the future and have to pay huge amounts again!
 
It cost the same amount so I just did the cat C. It turned out to be a good decision because I was offered work driving a hiab lorry on long distance trips. It's handy extra money and queuing for the tunnels in the Swiss Alps makes a nice change to the M25. I need to do my C+E next so I can ditch the L plates on the trailer.
 
C1 will be taken in a long wheel base van - no real difference in size from a 3.5t lorry. C will be in a 7.5t horsebox size vehicle. As I was going to drive 7.5t, and it was the dimensions rather than the actual driving I was cautious of, I did my C and passed first time. Most instructors will advise that you do your C, as others have said for the sake of a small amount extra if could save you a load of money at a later date if you need to drive something bigger!
 
Lovely, thanks for the replies, that confirms my thoughts. :), and thanks ROG, I will check it out. I am near evesham on the border of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire if anyone has any recommendations for training :-)
