Our cat Eddie has had a slightly weepy/puffy eye for a few weeks now. It was a little bit iffy when he went in for a dental and various things at the vets 2 weeks ago but they were not worried about it, but it is a bit worse since then. We then went for a check-up 1 week ago and I asked the vet about it - she said it doesn't seem infected and there is no obvious damage to the eye, just to clean it and see what happens. He is now on daily Metacam for arthritis (as of two weeks ago) but that doesn't seem to be helping it either... sometimes it looks normal and sometimes he even holds it totally shut. It runs but clear tears and the eye itself looks good. Most of the time it is open but less than the other eye.
I will ask the vets again but I'm not really sure what they can suggest if it's not infected, there's nothing obvious wrong with it and he is already on Metacam too (which should help with pain and swelling). I was wondering if anyone has used and can recommend any cat eye drops please? I am currently using Vetericyn antimicrobial eye wash and I just wipe gently around the eye, but clearly that is not enough.
