if anyone read my previous post one of my kittys as gone walkies, and the other isnt coping. i know that if she doesnt come home i will get another (in NO WAY to just 'replace' her) but dilemma is how long do i leave it?
ive done knocking on doors/ leaflets / phoned vets etcc... and no luck :(
shes been gone since sat morn (i know its not be *that* long) but shes only 8 months old!
now other kitty, doesnt really eat now, sleeps or just follows me and wants cuddles/play time whereas shes normally very active with her fellow sister kitty.
when would YOU start looking?
im off to badminton and thought about getting one after that as it alllows runaaway kitty time to come back, however i dont know how home kitty will cope that long? opinions?
i bet if i get another then runaway kitty will come home 1 day or 2 later and ill have 3, which isnt a problem to me. but i just want her home to comfort home kitty :(
sorry waffling on... what would you guys do??

cookies and chocolate

I hope she comes home soon.
I had brother & sister kittens years ago, the boy got run over bless him his sister missed him loads & within a couple of weeks my ex returned with a fluffy black kitten ..... Kiara (the sister) hated him with a severe passion & within 10 months she went out one day & i've never seen her since. The fluffy kitten is now 11, he went in my elderly neighbours caravan while they were airing it once, i was calling & calling him then saw him in the window of said caravan. The neighbours are deaf & it didn't matter how hard i knocked on their door they didn't answer it .... he had to stay there all night - so anything could've happened to your lil' un. Is it usual for her to go off 'doing her thing' ??

If it was my cat I would have been looking on Saturday afternoon. She is very likely shut in somewhere, like in someone's house or shed, and probably not very far away. I would suggest knocking on neighbours' doors and asking.

since Saturday is no time at all - I agree, get all your neighbours to check their sheds. Also call all the local vets and animal sanctuaries - you may well find her yet - I've known cats waltz back in as if they've been gone 5 minutes after over a month! Is she microchipped?

i have already done everything. i went out sat evening looking and knocking on doors and all vets and rescues know. she is spayed and mircochipped.
this is the first time so this is why im a bit hmmm.. as what to do!

If she can't get in when your out or in bed, there's every chance she's been trying to come home when its quiet. Could you leave a shelter of some kind near the door, a cat carrier or similar would do?

I alluded to this in the other post, but apparently someone is home all day.

OP I certainly wouldn't get another kitten just yet - the one left behind will be just fine. And hopefully the lost one will turn up.

is she spayed?! sounds like husband hunting to me!! In which case she will come home soon looking very pleased with herself and spend a few days snoozing it off!!
otherwise I agree it is too soon, my cat went missing for 3 weeks, she moved in with somebody else and they took her to the vets to see if she had an owner. Lo and behold kitty got dragged out of her new mansion and back to my pokey house. and was grounded!!!!
also, the other cat is unlikely to like a new kitten/cat. s/he wants the old one! imagine if your best friend went missing and someone brought in a toddler! not the same!!
She'l come home one way or the other. posters work wonders so get postering round the local (at least 3 mile radius) area :)

p.s. my other cat went missing (we think someone attempted to steal him, he was a siamese) for THREE MONTHS! we eventually got a new kitten and someone did see one of the posters we put up. he was living in her shed! :(

I had two cats up until 2 weeks ago :(. They were brother and sister and the boy got run over. The girl was a bit quiet and didn't leave the garden for a week after but she is now fine and back to normal chewing boxes up!! Does anyone elses cat chew things like a puppy:D

I lost one of my cats a few years ago... I went door to door with little leaflets which included a picture.
It took me hours, I had lots of phone calls, and found out all about my cats social life. He turned up 3 days later, and had obviously been shut in as he smelt foisty.
Last year I lost my other cat. Again went door to door over two evenings with leaflets and went out every evening after dark to call him in case he was hiding anywhere.
On the 4th night after I'd been out calling with the dog, just as I was about to go in the house the dog went back onto the road - and there was my kitty, stood looking pitiful at the end of the road.
We met half way and he was clearly not himself, so took him to the vets that night. So glad I did as he was weeing blood, and had taken a blunt blow which damaged his liver.
He has since made a full recovery.
Hope your kitty turns up soon x

yes she is spayed.
ive done all the hunting and leftlets and not getting anywhere :(
and im here most of the day and always calling for her!

Our cat has gone walkabout a couple of times.

She managed to get herself locked in a building sites portakabin for a weekend once. Gave the foreman a right shock when he opened up and she came shooting out.

She also got herself locked in a car for 3 days in the middle of summer. Dad thought she was dead when he found her. Car was like an oven and she was streched out in the footwell. How she survived is beyond me.

Ask your neighbours to check everywhere that she could have gotten herself shut in. Cats can be silly nosey creatures sometimes.

Good luck finding her!

It's a really common thing this time of year op as I found out almost exactly a year ago when my boy went walkabouts for five weeks. I think the spring goes to their heads! I totally know how you are feeling - I was distraught - but give her a little bit longer. I really really hope she shows up soon. Try emptying your Hoover bag outside your door, if she hasn't gone too far the smell will help guide her home xx

Have you checked places really close to the house? Sounds ridiculous but we have a huge garden and when one of our cats went missing a few years ago, we spent days searching everywhere. We eventually found him about 2 metres away from the garage under a hedge - he'd very sadly been hit by a car and must have pulled himself there as he had a broken leg. But he hadn't made a sound when we'd spent ages calling and looking for him. It was really tragic as due to complications of being left for a few days he had to be PTS. So upsetting when he was so near all along :(

That is so sad ... if only he'd made some sort of noise :(
